Pensions tax relief restriction plans have been welcomed by the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF).
The British government is currently planning to limit pensions tax relief for high earners in the hope of raising revenue and targeting it away from the highest earners.
However, while the NAPF is pleased with the overall decision, the body has stated that the proposals do need some fine tuning.
Joanne Segars, chief executive of NAPF, has warned that the fact individuals will find themselves open to new measures of assessment to determine their benefit could mean those who have been promoted or made redundant or have to take early retirement due to illness are unfairly penalised.
The body is calling on the government to clarify its thinking around ill health retirement and review its pensions cap tax relief on all employee contributions at 40%.
Meanwhile, the NAPF recently applauded the decision of the Pension Protection Fund to think about its long-term prospects in a "transparent" manner.
