The short-term prospects for the UK have improved, according to one organisation.
It comes after the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) released its latest economic forecast, which increased UK gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 1.7% for this year and to 2.2% for 2011.
However, over the medium term it seems the government's austerity measures will lead to the pace of the increase reducing.
David Kern, chief economist for the BCC, observed that second-quarter growth was "very strong".
However, he expects the swelling of VAT to have a significant impact on this acceleration.
The specialist added that it is impossible for growth to continue, as those in power have to ensure that they "significantly cut the deficit, strengthen the banking sector and reduce personal debt".
Mr Kern noted that a double-dip recession is still possible due to the scale of the cuts.
